Backos Pump Traps are a combination steam trap and condensate pump all built into one.  The original and only true pumping trap on the market today,  Backos Pump Traps were designed to remove condensate from process equipment over varying pressures and loads.

How it works

During the start a up of a steam heating process, the condensate load is the greatest while the steam pressure is the least. The steam is condensing rapidly for heat up and cannot build pressure fast enough.  If the condensate is not removed, heat transfer cannot occur.  Once the process is brought up to temperature, the steam condensing slows and the  pressure begins to increase.  Conventional steam traps rely on pressure differential to push condensate through the trap.  If the pressure is too low, condensate will not be removed from the system and as a result backs up into the heat exchange equipment.  This creates a slow start up condition.  With the Backos Pump Trap, if the pressure differential is insufficient, the pump trap automatically pressurizes itself and pumps the condensate away. If the pressure differential is adequate then the pump trap works like a conventional steam trap allowing the condensate to be removed while preventing steam loss.

The Backos Pump Trap eliminates the need of a stream trap and pumping unit. Thats why you get faster start ups and no damaging water hammer.   Learn more, click on the following:
